2015

2015

 1. What did you do in 2015 that you’d never done before? Worked outside of the house for the first time since Jack was born, over 11 years ago. Sent my last baby to kindergarten. 2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year? Eh. Probably not. I … Continue reading

2014

This is the incomplete draft that I started at the end of 2014 and never finished or published. Since I did 2015’s I thought it would be nice to have this out there too. 2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year? Last year, I trained for … Continue reading

It’s Friday, I’m in Love

I’m loving the Indigo Girls latest album, One Lost Day. It is wistful, sweet, reflective, mournful, retrospective, and mature. It doesn’t have the angst of Swamp Ophelia, but then again, 21 years later, neither do I. It’s a beautiful album, full of Emiliy Saliers’s sweet voice and Amy Ray’s powerful energy. ~~~ Sarah likes to … Continue reading

On the Menu This Week

On the Menu This Week

The recipes in this week’s menu are almost entirely from cookbooks. I love cookbooks so much. The Summer of Pickles!

The Summer of Pickles!

I think my first child was about 65% pickle in utero (and 35% bacon grilled cheese) because of all the delicious deli kosher dill pickles I ate when I was pregnant. And after having the pickle jar appetizer at Vintage in New Market, I went looking for refrigerator pickled … Continue reading

Strawberry Pie

Strawberry Pie

Strawberry pie is one of my family’s summer food highlights. Usually the first summer fruit in for the season, in late May I start trolling the farmer’s market for the first cartons of berries. While I am and forever will  be a Cake Person, James is a Pie Person. And since he is my favorite person … Continue reading

Family Travel Games

The pool opened this weekend! Summer and adventure are finally here! (And for my mental health: vitamin D and excitement!) When we hit the pool, or the beach for that matter, we like to set up camp and stay alllll day long. We pack our cooler and snacks, and I arrange myself on a lounge chair, … Continue reading

Even More Podcasts

After my last post about podcasts I added even more to my list. Some came from suggestions from other people, and some came from that thing a podcast host will sometimes do at the very end of the recording and say, “if you liked this podcast, you might also like __” (So, yes, podcast producers, those little plugs … Continue reading
