If, by chance, you are still holding out starting Christmas movies because it’s mid-November, then I have some Thanksgiving movies for you. Unfortunately there aren’t many, but thankfully (see what I did there?) my Friends help fill in the gap.
Planes, Trains and Automobiles – Steve Martin and John Candy, classic John Hughes. Funny and awkward, it leaves you with a warm, holiday feeling.
A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, The Mayflower Voyagers – Charlie Brown special, of course. This is the one Peanuts holiday movie where I think my kids might like the second feature on the disc just as much as the first, The Mayflower Voyagers, where the gang reenacts the story of the pilgrims and the first Thanksgiving.
Home For the Holidays – Adult children come home for Thanksgiving, they’re all realistically dysfunctional. It’s kind of sweetly sad like a mid-90s Little Miss Sunshine.
Friends Thanksgiving episodes:
- Got the Kee-yees?
- The Mocklate Holiday
- Troll Doll on a 2 by 4
- The Reason for the Box is Threefold
- MOAR Bandages!
- It Tastes Like Feet!
- It’s Like A Cow’s Opinion
- Two Worst Enemies: Rachel Green and Complex Carbohydrates
- She Has Your Original Nose
My personal top four: The One Where Ross Got High (S6), The One with Chandler in a Box (S4), The One with the Rumor (S8), The One with the Football (S3).
Do you watch any other Thanksgiving movies? At this rate, I’ll be watching Elf by dinnertime.
